Statement
Ruralco is deeply connected to the communities in which it operates across Australia. With more than 300 member stores operating under the CRT banner, 45 stores and agencies in Tasmania, and through all the companies that are wholly owned or in joint venture, Ruralco is focused on reaching its customers and its communities. Staff members regularly conduct fund-raising activities for a wide range of local, regional and national initiatives. Ruralco companies also provide sponsorship funds, gift vouchers, and merchandise as prizes and support for events and activities in local towns and communities. Sporting events such as local golf tournaments and country football are regularly supported as well as art and craft events.
Mental Health
Depression, anxiety, and stress are silent diseases of the bush. CRT has continued its support of a research project by the University of Southern Queenslands Centre for Rural and Remote Area Health with the publication of a book Tough Times. Roberts has been a long-term support of rural counselling services in Tasmania that provide counselling support to farmers and people in rural towns and regional areas.
Water
Water is a principal policy matter that faces state and federal governments.Through Roberts, Ruralco has committed to invest $2 million in the Meander Dam project, billed as the largest water infrastructure development in recent history in Tasmania.
Agricultural Shows
Agricultural Shows are key community events across Australia. Through its companies, Ruralco is proud to be a major sponsor of many events such as the Shows. Across Australia, CRT members support regional and community Shows, including the Royal Adelaide Show. In Tasmania, Roberts is a major sponsor of the Royal Hobart, Royal Launceston, and Burnie shows as well as a supporter of the main regional shows.
Women in Agriculture
CRT and Roberts are significant supporters of events that help build the role of women in agriculture. CRT conducts very successful workshops in a number of states while Roberts continues to be a major sponsor of the annual Tasmanian Women in Agriculture conference.
