Wool representatives attend conference at Moonee Valley

In July, 35 wool staff from Primaries, Rodwells, WISS and Roberts attended Ruralco’s inaugural national wool conference held at the Moonee Valley racecourse in Melbourne. The event offered the chance to listen to wool industry leaders and provide a platform for everyone to meet and discuss threats and opportunities in the industry.

The first of the key note speakers at the Monday night dinner was Ruralco CEO, Travis Dillon. This was followed by Ruralco Finance representatives Ian Perry and Michael Tonkin with wool buyers/exporters Paul Ferranato (United Wool) and Mark Symes (Schneider Australia) closing out proceedings.

On the Tuesday, the attendees heard from Stuart McCullough (AWI CEO), and industry representatives Mark Grave (AWEX) and Chris Wilcox (National Council Wool Selling Brokers). Mark Boxall from Primaries gave a report on their successful China wool grower tour and Mecardo Managing Director, Robert Herrmann ran interactive sessions on innovation and product differentiation in the wool broking industry.

Thanks to all members and speakers for their attendance with special thanks to Rodwells Wool Manager Michael De Kleuver for organising the event.
